Hello! My name is Dua. I am from Shimla, a small hill town in the Himalayan mountain ranges in Himachal Pradesh, India. I completed my Bachelors of Science degree in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology from PGIMER Chandigarh, India in 2007. I worked as an audiologist and speech-language pathologist at a school for children with hearing impairment in India for 6 months before moving to the Lawrence, Kansas to work on a Masters degree in 2008. I graduated with a Masters of Arts in Speech- Language Pathology in 2010. During my Masters program I worked as a research assistant on a study targeted at creating a rating scale for assessment of communication abilities in children and adults with severe multiple impairments.

After earning my Masters, I moved to Washington to work in a skilled nursing facility. I love living in Washington because of the cedarwood trees here which remind me of growing up in Shimla. I worked in skilled nursing facilities for 7 years both as a speech-language pathologist and a rehabilitation director. My responsibilities included treating clients and managing the therapy department. I enjoyed working with the older adults because of their insight about life and their unique experiences that they were kind enough to share with me during our time together.

I am certified in Lee-Silverman Voice Therapy (LSVT) and Vital Stim therapy. Both are successfully used for treatment with the pediatric and adult population. I have also completed a leadership development program through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and have earned 3 ASHA ACEs (Award for Continuing Education). ACE is a formal recognition of professionals who have demonstrated their commitment to lifelong learning by earning 7.0 ASHA continuing education units (CEUs) (equivalent to 70 contact hours) within a 36-month period.

After 7 years of working with the adult population, I decided to make a transition and start working with children in a private practice setting. This brought me to Clear Speech Inc. I am excited to see what this new journey will bring into my life.

In my spare time, I enjoy connecting with my extended family via phone or Skype, taking care of our fish, and traveling with my husband Tarun.
